When the Jaguar XE launched back in 2015, it impressed critics with its deft driving experience that pretty much eclipsed all of its rivals. However, sales never kept up with the cars in its class such as the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class.
Since the 2015 model, Jaguar has modernised the car's styling, making the saloon appear comfortingly familiar yet beautifully different. The thinner LED lights, reshaped bumpers and an optional lip spoiler look a modern, sexy twist.
Newer models feature more luxurious cabin materials and loads of new technology, including the option of up to four screens. One of the screens is cleverly embedded within the rearview mirror so that you can easily stream a wide-angle view that gives you a far better picture of what is behind you.
All versions of the latest Jaguar XE run on two-litre engines, with a 133kw diesel and two petrol, offering either 184kw or 221kw. All have an eight-speed automatic transmission - with elongated paddle shifts and a traditional gear selector. The XE offers a mixture of rear- and all-wheel drive.
