Nissan has come a long way since the late 90s, as CEO Carlos Ghosn described in his lauded book on the company's revival, entitled Shift.
And obersevers of the industry will know that this is true, the modern Nissan motor manufacturer we know today is a transformation over what it was, offering a truly diverse array of products, with a more global scope; including the ever-so popular Nissan Qashqai
What’s in the Range
Starting with its compact-car offering, the Micra, Nissan's range spans through to family hatchbacks, sportscars, heavy-duty pick-up trucks - and more notably, crossover vehicles. Models like the Murano and Qashqai have caused a stir since their market release, and have become a popular sight on the roads. The quirky Nissan Juke recently joined its crossover siblings in South Africa, and interestingly, features a turbocharged engine with performance figures that venture into hot-hatch territory.
The halo model in Nissan's line-up is the GT-R, a car often described as appropriate for the PlayStation Generation - abound with technological wizardry beneath its imposing exterior. The spirit of the legendary Z moniker is continued in the 370Z sports car, offered as a coupe, or convertible. Nissan competes in the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) segment too, with its Livina, Livina X-Gear and Grand Livina models.
Rivalling players like the Toyota Hilux, Volkswagen Amarok and Ford Ranger is the Nissan Navara bakkie. The Pathfinder is Nissan's large Sports Utility Vehicle. The NP200 small bakkie took over from the highly successful Nissan 1400, and the Nissan Hardbody still soldiers on under the NP300 nameplate.
