Renault recently launched the Duster in South Africa, wielding the tagline “It’s time for tough”. We drove it at the launch and can attest to its ruggedness. Hoping to cement the butch persona is a special model, set to debut at the forthcoming Johannesburg International Motor Show.
It’s called the Duster Detour and Renault says it boasts a little bit of Mad Max, The Terminator and some Dakar dirtiness. It’s a result of a collaborative effort between the Renault design centre in Europe and a special design studio right here in South Africa.
Renault has teased with the picture you see here. And if you’re attending the show, they promise it’ll dazzle in the flesh with its pearl yellow and matt grey paint finish and beefier exterior pieces.
According to Renault South Africa Product Manager Floyd Ramabulana, the Duster is faring well on the local market. “We’ve received an amazing response from potential buyers, who have flooded our website and social network platform to discover Duster’s line-up”. He added, “Our dealers are extremely busy organising hundreds of test drives”.
