This is the swan song from the current generation Audi TT before its all-new successor arrives. Enter the special edition TTS competition. Only 500 units will be produced worldwide and South Africa is lucky enough to be getting 25 examples. Act swiftly if you want a slice of the action though. According to Audi, the majority of units are already spoken for.
You’ll pay R664 500 for the privilege of ownership. But the unique coupe is loaded with niceties and has no options list. It comes standard with a navigation system, parking assist, a Bose audio system, electrically-adjustable seats and more exclusive interior trim appointments. A duo of colour choices are on offer: Nimbus Grey and Imola Yellow. Exterior styling cues include a fixed rear spoiler with aluminium bars and it rolls on Audi’s cool rotor-arm wheels.
Everything else is largely as it is on the standard TTS. Power from the 2.0 TFSI engine is rated at 250kW with 350Nm of torque, propelling it to 100km/h from standstill in a claimed time of 5.3 seconds. This is paired to their six-speed S-tronic transmission and the top speed is electronically pegged at 250km/h. In typical hot Audi fashion, power is sent to all four wheels. Adding more exclusivity to the mix, the TTS competition boasts a numbered plaque.
Buyers can only have it in the coupe body format and included in the price is a five-year/100 000-kilometre maintenance plan, which can be extended to a seven-year/200 000-kilometre term.
