The BB Group and Renault share not just an impressive 50-year legacy, but a lifelong vision to surpass expectations and build long-term relationships with their customers. When meeting the team at BB Hatfield Renault, it is refreshingly evident that this dealership’s goal is to grow employees as individuals, and together as a stronger team. During my test drive of the Sandero Stepway Dynamique, one such team member whose expertise I had the pleasure of experiencing, was Nomsa Kabini.

A total stunner

With carefully chiseled attributes and accented features, the Stepway is a particularly good-looking motorcar. The C-shaped headlamps accentuate its charm. Creating an optical illusion with its SUV style roof rails and raised ground clearance, it still maintains the features of a family hatch.

Renault added front and rear skid panels and 16-inch wheels to give it the extra edge. The body is specifically designed to endure most adventures. From city driving to a lengthy and adventurous road trip. I particularly like the way the bonnet, headlamps and grille converge toward the prominent diamond shaped Renault logo.

Pretty Practical

The beautiful dark carbon padded upholstery along with leather steering wheel and gear lever, define the Stepway. It’s not just a simple design, it is evident that Renault made a specific effort to make the car attractive.

For added convenience, Renault included a driver’s armrest – and it really does make a difference. The driver’s seat is also height adjustable to suit even the most petite of drivers. I quite liked the fact that both the front and rear windows are electric – a praise to small conveniences.

As per usual, the manufacturer has included a nifty 7-inch MediaNav infotainment system with integrated AM/FM radio, Bluetooth™, USB and AUX connectivity – all accessible through the multifunctional steering wheel.

A whole lot of spunk on the road

It drives as lively as it looks and corners like a champ, while still maintaining a more relaxed performance with cruise control and speed limiter. The speed limiter makes a strange noise which can be startling at first. But it’s certainly more useful than annoying.

Rear park assist is also included for those who struggle with parking. Along the smooth steering wheel, you’ll find your trip computer with almost everything you need to know about your drive. To compensate for the rising fuel price, you even have an Eco mode – and even though performance is slightly compromised, you can easily switch it off when needed.

Now that we’ve established its driving capabilities, let’s look at some of the family-friendly safety features included: driver, de-activatable front passenger and side airbags to ensure minimum bodily harm when faced with confrontation. And, Isofix child preparation in the back seat with a seatbelt warning light in the front center console to monitor and ensure all passengers are safely strapped in.

When you buy your Renault Sandero Stepway Dynamique, you’ll receive a 5 year/150 000km mechanical warranty and a 2 year/30 000km service plan to complement your ride.
