Honda recently released its all-new fifth-generation CR-V and it certainly doesn’t fail to impress. Each feature is designed to enhance the driving experience, making this the most advanced, spacious and sophisticated archetype of the popular compact SUV.
The smooth lines and alluring curves on the exterior are designed not only to add to the aesthetic appeal, but also to facilitate optimal airflow to increase fuel efficiency. The chrome trimmings and eye-catching front and rear headlamps make this SUV a unique contender. Honda specifically designed the windows to enable optimal visibility and luxury. Accessories like roof rails and silver bumper skid decoration come standard in all CR-V derivatives.
The CR-V Exclusive is powered by a 1.5-litre Turbo petrol engine, with 140kW of power and a maximum speed of 200km/h. Standard are 18-inch alloy wheels, with a full size spare wheel for those unexpected mishaps. The All-wheel-drive, CVT transmission allows a smooth output and comfortable drive.
The interior is designed to represent luxury and space – with keyless entry in both Executive and Exclusive derivatives. You are always in control with the model’s ergonomically placed features – all of which are accessible without worrying about distraction or loss of control. Moving towards the driver’s cockpit, you are greeted with memory leather seats and a leather covered multifunctional steering wheel. The front and rear seats are heated with arm rests included for driver and passenger convenience.
The cluster is digital with a TFT driver interface that displays required information about the vehicle and drive. You control what information you see with the panels located along the steering wheel. Standard on the Elegance, Executive and Exclusive derivatives are steering wheel paddle shifts for gear change convenience. Also included is cruise control with a Speed Limiter, which is convenient for those who often travel long distances.
With regards to infotainment: The Elegance, Executive and Exclusive derivatives have a 7-inch touchscreen audio display. Features on the infotainment system include Bluetooth and HDMI connectivity, together with front and rear USB connection – with the entire system Apple CarPlay compatible.
Moving on from the vehicle’s overall charming good looks and convenient features, to the safety elements Honda incorporated…
It’s only natural that Honda integrated the best in safety precautions into the vehicle. For parking, they’ve added a smart rear camera, front and rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, active cornering lights, Lanewatch™, whiplash mitigation front seats and an electronically controlled 4 wheel-drive system, to name a few.
For your long-distance needs, they’ve included Adaptive Cruise Control which monitors your surroundings and adjusts the speed accordingly. For those highway expeditions is a Driver Attention Monitor which constantly monitors and assesses your behaviour. If it senses you are losing concentration on the road, it automatically cautions you to take a break.
After sales includes a 5-year/200 000km warranty, 5-year/90 000km service plan and 3-year AA roadside assistance.
