BMW has once again been deemed the coolest car brand among South African youths. At the Sunday Times Generation Next 2014 awards ceremony, the German automaker drove away with too titles: “Coolest Motor Vehicle Brand” and “Coolest Brand Overall” managing to thwart names like Nike and Coca-Cola.
This isn’t the first time they’ve swiped these titles – it’s the fourth time in a row they’ve been certified the coolest in their category. Now in its 10th year, the Generation Next initiative surveys more than 5500 South Africans between the ages of 8 and 23. According Bodo Donauer, Managing Director and BMW South Africa, they hope this success among the nation’s youngsters will translate into future sales.
“We are thrilled to receive this accolade, which reaffirms that we are not only the leading provider of premium products for individual mobility, but among the most aspirational brands in the world,” he said. It’s turning out to be a good year for the manufacturer. This victory follows in the wake of emerging as the top selling premium brand for the fourth consecutive year, in the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa) automobile ranking results.
