A new Ferrari-based theme park is opening in Spain. On 13 March, a PortAventura Entertainment S.A.U, a subsidiary of Investindustrial, signed a licensing agreement with Ferrari to build “Ferrari Land”, inside the PortAventura resort and theme park outside Barcelona.
Ferrari Land will cover 75,000 square metres and include various new and exciting attractions for enthusiasts of all ages, including Europe’s highest and fastest vertical accelerator. The first Ferrari-themed luxury five-star hotel is also to be built inside PortAventura with 250 rooms, restaurants and a driving simulator.
The project will involve an overall investment of 100 million Euros. It officially opens in 2016. Andrea C. Bonomi, Senior Partner Investindustrial, explained that the project will create a park which offers not only a unique experience, but one that boosts brands as well. They hope to expand the popular PortAventura resort even more, to position it as one of the best family destinations in the world.
Andrea Perrone, CEO of Ferrari Brand (the Ferrari subsidiary company that manages the Prancing Horse’s brand-related activities) believes that Investindustrial’s plan is solid as it has been developed by competent people. She has expressed her satisfaction with the Ferrari-themed park to enhance the brand’s name. Sergio Feder, Executive President of PortAventura, expresses the company’s pride at being able to support such a “world famous and internationally respected brand.”
