Ford Kuga – Shoot Me Down/I Won’t Fall/I am Titanium

The Ford Kuga has recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons. In my further exploration of the vehicle, I turned to experienced dealers Consolidated Auto Boksburg for more info on a vehicle there really should be more positive talk about: The Ford Kuga.

New Car Sales Executive Rudi Malan introduced me to the Ford Kuga 2.0 TDCI AWD Titanium variant with humble confidence. Having worked at the Dealership for the last three years, Rudi is aware of the negative publicity surrounding this vehicle, and with passionate conviction related to me that his inherent belief is that the Kuga (and Ford as a whole) stands for quality above all, and wanted me to experience this first hand.

The vehicle itself proved to be very popular, due obviously to its rugged good-looks, but also because of its performance and the build quality synonymous with Ford. Rudi adds that value for money is the cherry on the cake in this case – coming in at the attractive price of R506 000 for this top of the range all-wheel-drive vehicle, I was looking forward to having my mind well and truly blown in this experience. The exterior of the car had already proved to check my boxes, and I found particular affinity with the sleek, sturdy yet fluid lines.

The interior was no less impressive: beautiful finishes were testament to the attention to detail, with comfortable, superbly supportive leather seats which I can only imagine would lead to an easy, relaxed long-distance drive. The rear was perfectly designed with travel in mind – my children especially enjoyed the drop-down cupholders and tray, and as a mom with her hands full, I loved opening the boot with the touch of a button (which is a rare feature in this crossover segment).

Driving the Kuga was refreshing – I loved the higher driving position and visibility, and the clean, ease of movement with which the vehicle navigated through hot traffic (leaving us inside still cool and collected). Built in navigation proved to be useful for choosing a quicker route, and the centre console felt excellently designed to easily reach and use.

With all the harsh criticism the Kuga had received (admittedly, none of it was for the capabilities of the vehicle or the actual specs thereof), the team at Consolidated Auto note that Ford South Africa had recommitted itself to its clients, prioritising their satisfaction and their safety by extending the cover on all Kuga models to a total of 6 years/200 000 km by means of the newly launched For Kuga PremiumCare Extended Plan. Emphasising peace of mind to their clients, Ford reassures their clients of their confidence in the vehicle itself.

I am equally as impressed with the vehicle as I am with the assertive connection to the brand represented by Rudi Malan and team – the Kuga presents as great quality, great value for money with all the needed trimmings to provide the client with ultimate satisfaction.
