While conspiracies are rife as to the origins of the COVID-19 Corona Virus, the Ford Performance Centre claim full responsibility for building yet another demon-slaying, metal mutant with a combustion engine – the beast unleashed is the new 2020 ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang.
Its story-line can only be described as a mechanical adaptation scripted straight from the movie screenplays of, Van Helsing, The Island of Dr. Morreau and Captain America…which I admit sounds a bit derivative…but the fact remains; along-side the 2020 Jack Roush Special Edition Mustang, the ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang is the Ford Performance Centre’s most powerful built Stage 3 to date. By integrating the Ford Mustang’s standard 375kw, 5.0l, V8 engine with the ROUSH Phase 2 Supercharger, mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 10-speed automatic transmission: whichever of the two drivetrains you choose the performance is sadistic as both produce 560kw of power and 908nm of torque – accelerating from 0 – 100km/h in 3.6 seconds. That is faster than the Nissan GTR, the Mercedes AMG C63 S or any other super saloon to ‘exit the Green Hell.’ Every inch of this beast; every minute detail is meticulously sculpted – from the intuitive cabin configuration: bespoke leather seats, sport paddle-shifters with the optional race steering wheel, and sixteen-channel adjustable electric bucket-seats. The ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang’s sentient driver experience enables even the most novice driver to engage the car’s drivability for both on the road and on the track – owning one is after-all a statement of power. Nonetheless, ‘with great power comes great responsibility,’ which is why Ford Performance engineers fettled the ROUSH Stage 3 with the ROUSH-calibrated MagneRide sports suspension, ultra-high-performance Continental ExtremeContact Sport Tyres, and the Podium Package upgrade Active Aerodynamic Carbon Fibre Wing – adding an extra two-and-half-times more downforce – imbued handling that will peel-off your face through every high-speed corner. Besides the ROUSH’s aggressive racecar handling, the adjustable suspension also allows the driver to select different driver-mode settings: that provides a perfect blend of superior road-holding/ride-quality and supple driving comfort.
Inasmuch as the 2020 Roush Stage 3 Mustang can be transformed into a racetrack serial killer – the car remains a road car, which is why the Ford Performance Centre offer an in-house 3 year/60 000km Ford Protect powertrain warranty.
