The next Ford Everest will be chunkier, meaner and more refined. Ford unveiled their preview of what the next model will look like at the Bangkok international motor show. A fitting Asian debut since the new Everest will be manufactured in Thailand.
All those distinctive styling cues are there. It actually looks like an EcoSport after a rigorous workout regimen. Up front a bold trapezoidal grille dominates things, with wide and slim headlights swept back for a more aerodynamic look. The rear lamps are said to be “chiseled over a negative scallop”, whatever that means. It is undoubtedly rugged though.
Nothing has been said yet about the range of engines. But Ford says it will be a bona fide off-road machine with serious utilitarian virtues. Its rivals, the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Toyota Fortuner are based on bakkie architecture. So it wouldn’t be unrealistic to expect plenty of Ranger DNA under the skin here. The Everest also promises to have space for seven.
