Lunga Kashe, New Car Sales Executive at Hyundai the Glen, was quite excited this past week to introduce me to the Hyundai Accent Hatch 1.6 Fluid; being a firm favourite of his, the Accent is the perfect family vehicle that also doubles as a stylish ride for the young executive. Having had the opportunity to get to know this vehicle, I am inclined to feel that this particular car would be perfect for almost anyone.
The Accent Hatch derivatives are named “Fluid” for a very good reason: not only is the vehicle beautifully styled along this design concept, but it’s practicality speaks of its fluid adaptability to suit your lifestyle. With a great combination of edgy and sporty style elements (such as the fog lamps that seem to flow into the body, as well as 16 inch allow wheels) as well as luxury (seen in the long, elegant curves and elegant character lines along the bonnet), the Accent is a gorgeous car to look at. Lunga also notes that with a longer wheelbase, the Accent has room to spare inside.
The interior is, for me, the perfect amount of technology and features for a vehicle in its class. It not only looks great (and modern) but is well laid out and practically designed to be both convenient and comfortable. With integrated Bluetooth and steering-wheel controls, your safety and ease-of-use are prioritised as the driver. I love that is has rear park assist (as I am not a fan of tricky parking spaces) and have to note the addition of a full-sized spare wheel in the boot. Speaking of which, the boot is a spacious 370 litre cavern that provides just the right amount of space needed for luggage, boxes and the like.
One of the most important aspects of vehicle review for me has always been the safety features present in the car. As always, with Hyundai this is a pleasure to report on. The Accent boasts 6 airbags, including dual-stage front airbags, front-side airbags, and curtain airbags for all round safety. Furthermore, the vehicle base is designed around a high-tensile steel safety cage that provides additional protection for your passengers, and results in a really great, tight suspension feel as a bonus.
With it’s powerful 1.6 litre CVVT engine, the Accent produces 91 kW and 156 Nm of torque, which prove to be both satisfyingly strong, as well as remarkably efficient. Noted at using 6.4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, the Accent Hatch proves to also then be economical to drive.
I have become accustomed to the superb handling and acceleration of the Hyundai brand, and the Accent Hatch is no different. It feels fantastic to drive, responsive and precise with great feedback and a comfortable, secure feeling to sitting behind the wheel.
Hyundai the Glen, as my go-to Dealership for all things Hyundai, is a hub of professionalism and product expertise. In typical client-centred fashion, the Dealership provided me with a lift to my next destination after bringing back the Accent. My driver for this trip made a huge impact on me. Charles Ncube, the designated driver at Hyundai the Glen for the last 15 years affirmed that the Accent Hatch happens to be his favourite vehicle too. Appreciative of the vehicle’s size (not too big and not too small), and its wonderful power at take-off, Charles seems to personify the passion I always feel at Hyundai the Glen. Passion for people, and passion for cars for the people. His loyalty to the brand and the dealership, speaks volumes of the kind of service and principles this Dealership upholds.
I leave the whole experience a lot richer: not only have a learned a great deal about the Hyundai Accent Hatch, but also about the brand’s dedication to their “family”.
