Infiniti is baring its intention to tackle the perennial performance favourites from Germany. This is the Q50 Eau Rouge concept, set to be unveiled officially at the Detroit Motor Show next week. And according to the automaker, it draws heavily from their Formula One efforts.
But it’s a sign of their plans to compete with the AMG, M and RS-badged brutes. Said Alfonso Albaisa, Executive Design Director, “From our shared passion for performance with Red Bull Racing grew a desire to produce a vision of what a high-performance Infiniti Q50 could look like.”
Those F1-inspired touches include aerodynamically-sculpted splitters, skirts and spoilers. It rides on lightweight alloys and features a rear diffuser too. This Eau Rouge is lower and wider than a standard Q50. Power will be detailed next week.
They are courting engagement on the social platforms (be sure to use the hashtag #F1Q50). And here’s the big incentive for Tweeting, Liking and Sharing. According to the media release, “Each share will help build individual Q50 components and as more fans share, the quicker the car will be built.”
