South Africa seems to be on a winning streak of late and we can’t help but be proud as a nation. After bagging the 2019 Rugby World cup and one of our very own recently winning Miss Universe we have earned the right to toot our own horn a bit. Here is another interesting story to add to our accolades.
Eastern Cape car dealer Tavcor Volkswagen recently organized a local design competition in the Nelson Mandela Bay metro. Learners were asked to give the attractive Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace an intergalactic makeover. The learners were given instruction to draw inspiration from outer space in their rendition of the makeover.
In the primary school category, Erica Park Girls Primary School seemed to be on top of their creativity gave as all 3 top finalists came from the school. The overall winner Buchule Maseti was over the moon when she saw her winning design wrapped around the Tiguan. In second place was Aashqah Abrahams and 3rd place was awarded to Likhwezi Gcsamba. The girls were just as excited about their winnings as they were seeing their schoolmate’s design coming to life.
In the high school category, the winning prize was awarded to Kayleen Govender from Pearson High School. Although she could not attend the unveiling ceremony at Tavcor as it was held on the same day as her school’s prize giving, she received much applause from her mates once her design was unveiled on the vehicle.
Second place in the high school category was awarded to Genevieve Broccardo from Victoria Park High School and 3rd place to Chloe Coetsee from Collegiate Girls High.
Tavcor VW’s sales general manager told Herald Live that he was blown away by the creativity of the pupils and the number pf entries they received this year.
The girls really brought their A-Game to the competition and it proved fruitful for them. After seeing the winning designs, I personally am tempted to get myself a Tiguan and have one of the girls design one of these creative wraps on mine too.
Well done girls!
