Meeting up with Charl Randall this past week reminded me of the true scope of the motoring industry. As the Sales Manager for Isuzu Truck World in Kempton Park, Charl heads up a sales team that is taught how to sell, present – and maintain – bakkies and trucks of the highest standards to the South African market. As the first Isuzu Truck Dealer to open in South Africa, it currently features among the top 5 Large Dealers in the Country.
Isuzu Truck World was established to be the forerunner of the Isuzu Truck Network in South Africa, and as a subsidiary of the Itochu Corporation of Japan, holds itself to global standards of excellence and precision as both a local and international business of commercial vehicles. Headed by Dealer Principal Mahomed Philip, the dealership has a large catalogue, which includes a variety of bakkies and bigger trucks, and strives to use a winning combination of global expertise and local knowledge to meet the needs of Gauteng-based clients.
Having been in the industry for 16 years, Charl notes that the Isuzu brand is one of only two brands he has ever represented, and feels a firm affinity to Isuzu and the client-base he has built up over the years. It’s not often that one hears someone say that another’s persons satisfaction is the key to their happiness, but Charl is one such individual; believing that Sales is not simply about selling a vehicle, but more about ensuring that clients are cared for holistically and throughout many years, Charl is emphatic about putting the client first, and wanting to see them come back after some time for upgrades or new vehicles. This ethic is carried through by the likes of Anthony Smith in Aftersales, where the underlying value rests on ensuring the needs of clients are met on every level. This also includes the added value service of DEMO usage and customer-training on the likes of best Financing options, fuel efficiency, cost to usage, driver training and safety. This approach is unique in that it not only provides you with a basic product, but also provides you with the right training needed to use the product to your best advantage.
I feel an openness in this hospitable environment; I note that the dealership upholds the ideal that in the sale of a vehicle, the care of that vehicle and it’s new owner are implied as well, meaning that aftersales, parts and accessories become part of the package. Training their staff in this manner has resulted in the dealership having a firm foundation of trust and respect in the local community, as well as being known for going the extra mile (even going so far as to source vehicles and services that don’t usually form part of their dealership). With a history of winning awards, Isuzu Truck World held the title of Top 3 for Volume Sales and Aftersales in 2014, and ranked number 1 in After Sales in South Africa.
The Isuzu Truck World fleet includes the KB series of bakkies (single cab, extended cab and double cab) as well as the N-series, F-series and FX Series of Trucks and Buses. Each designed to take on any load, road or challenge, depending on your needs, these vehicles are not only powerful and reliable, but based on years of research, development and production that has resulted in cutting-edge technology with the added benefit of being environmentally friendly. The dealership focusses on the Isuzu KB Bakkies as well as Trucks due to the close ties between Itochu and Isuzu, which is to the benefit of the greater community. Isuzu Truck World is actively committed to the local community, transformation and empowering staff.
Also available at this dealership is a broad range of emergency and crisis management vehicles that are supplied to many local municipalities for fire fighting and medical care. Refrigerated vehicles as well as a wide range of secure vehicles are also available, and Isuzu Truck World counts numerous banks as part of their Key Customers listing (ABSA, Bidvest and Wesbank to name but a few). Other notable clients include TransMart Africa, Albany Bakeries and Worldnet Logistics.
The popularity of the Isuzu brand can be seen in the total registered truck population in South Africa over the last two and a half decades: totalling over 36 500 trucks, Isuzu is clearly not only a favourite, but also proven to be durable, with a long road-life. Seeking to provide high quality and timely service to clients, Isuzu Truck World is ranked number 1 in Service Excellence in ITSA.
