After climbing behind the wheel of the sporty and contemporary Jaguar F-Pace, I was in awe. Reaching 100km in 7.2 seconds, with a maximum power of 177kW and maximum torque of 500Nm, the 2018 Jaguar F-Pace Pure 2.0 litre 4-cylinder AWD twin turbocharged engine literally purrs.

I took a much anticipated and thrilling test drive in this performance SUV accompanied by Brandon Whitaker from Jaguar East Rand.

The F-Pace has an unparalleled reputation for being a comfortable and smooth ride and thanks to its rigid body structure, cutting-edge suspension and aerodynamic design, the F-Pace shows Jaguar’s superior refinement.

Interior & practicality

The seats consist of contrast stitching in a range of materials to create a performance car look. Rear and knee leg room is among the best in its class and with its 40:20:40 seating arrangement, you can seat five passengers quite comfortably.

The boot is a spacious 508 litres (only with the space saver spare wheel). The optional feature, powered tailgate can be reached conveniently when your hands are full – all you need to do is present your foot under either rear corner for the boot to open or close.

Fitting features

While I was driving Brandon mentioned some of the performance features of the F-Pace Pure, which include: Stop/Start, Hill Launch Assist, Jaguar Drive Control with eco, dynamic, normal, rain-ice-snow mode, electric power assisted steering, electric parking brake with drive away release, emergency brake assist, hazard lights under heavy braking, airbags, torque vectoring, dynamic stability control and traction control, cruise control and speed limiter.

Other key features include Halogen Headlights with Daytime Running Lights, Luxtec seats, 8-way manual front seats, Gloss Black trim finisher and a Soft Grain Steering Wheel and cutting-edge technologies including the In-Control Touch Pro Infotainment System and 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster.
