A visit to Kia Goldreef is always a pleasant one, greeted with both a smile and a showroom filled with the latest, exciting new models. The atmosphere is such that you don’t want to leave – even if that means leaving with a new car! Dealer Principal Aboo Seedat has recently given me the opportunity to test drive the Kia Cerato – and what a drive it was! In the car with me was Sales Executive Abdur-Rahmaan Abed.

Upon meeting this stylish blue hatch, I noticed how “mature” it looks. The grille and the rear bumper doesn’t seem to look much like an everyday hatch. Abed later informed me that the design of the Cerato’s nose was inspired by that of tigers. The headlights are charming with a distinctive blue tinge that illuminates more of the road. The rear lights have a modern, stylish look to them. I particularly like the curves on the bonnet as they accentuate the fierce look from the headlights.

The Cerato has a very stylish look inside. Though it does have many features, the vehicle does not look overcrowded or messy. All the controls are easily accessible and easy to get used to. There is ample space for gadgets in the center console and enough leg room in the front as well as the back. As far as infotainment goes, the vehicle has a 4.3-inch touch screen audio system with integrated Bluetooth and a rear-view camera display. The multifunctional steering wheel allows you to access and operate the infotainment system – whether you’re answering a call or changing a musical track.

The steering wheel is as convenient as they come. Not only are the buttons placed in such a way that you can operate and control the audio system, but you can also access cruise control and other options on the dashboard cluster.

Moving to the back of the vehicle, the leg room in the second row is plentiful and the boot can fill up to 385 Liters when the second-row seats are folded.

With a 6-airbag system, Hill-start Assist Control, front and rear parking assist, seat belt pretensioners and Vehicle Stability Management, you can feel secure in knowing everyone in the car is safe.

The Drive

Entry into the Cerato is keyless and convenient. With just a touch of a button we are almost on the move. Naturally, when stepping into a car that is not your own, you tend to make a few adjustments in terms of seating. To my pleasant surprise, it took me less than 10 seconds to find the controls and adjust the height and positioning of the seat.

I’m always nervous to drive a manual vehicle as each clutch is different, but the pull-away in the Cerato is effortless with no difficulty in handling. The drive is incredibly smooth, and you can barely hear the vehicle as you are sitting in the driver’s seat. As we approach a hill, I gear down in anticipation. Much to my surprise, the vehicle effortlessly takes me over the hill with no trouble at all.

Back at the dealership I am reluctant to let this hatch go. It sure is a catch! Go down to Kia Goldreef and experience the bliss of this vehicle for yourself. Feel free to speak to Dealer Principal Aboobaker Seedat, Sales Manager Khalid Baba or Sales Executive Abdur-Rahmaan Abed for the best deals on any Kia. With a 5-year/unlimited km warranty, 5-year/90 000km service plan and 5-year/unlimited kilometer roadside assistance, Aboo and his team are confident to give you the best deal there is!
