The fourth-generation Kia Rio has made waves across the global motoring market. With it being one of the most value-for-money vehicles, the Rio has become a best seller in South Africa. At the lovely Kia Northcliff showroom, Sales Executive Sibusiso Nkosi guides me toward the stunner we’re about to test drive.

The LED headlight cluster and fog lights features the signature Rio look and comes together in the middle of the bonnet with the tiger-nose grille. The front’s striking and attractive design excites the driver. The rear is equally attractive, and its design showcases in such a way that you could see its spaciousness. LED positioning lamps and the side mirrors combine the front with the side of the vehicle. For safety and attraction, the side mirrors double as side indicators.

The interior offers the driver everything required to have a luxurious, comfortable and safe trip. The dash is complemented by chrome accents which flows around the air vents. Along the dash you find your piano black center console with an infotainment system which features Bluetooth, radio, USB, aux and CD-player.

Your cluster offers comfort, technology and convenience with a funky, round trip computer. The leather multifunctional steering wheel is telescopically adjustable, and you can easily access your infotainment system and your cruise control. Steering wheel, trip computer and gear mode selector give you an ergonomically placed cockpit.

Other technological functions for your convenience include electric and heated side mirrors for those icy mornings and electric front and rear windows for the kids’ convenience.

The drive of the sedan is surprisingly light. It does not feel overwhelmingly big like others. The automatic transmission is refreshing and adds to the lightness of the ride. Sibusiso and I drove around the suburbs of Fairland in the Rio Sedan and though it feels light, it takes the challenge of potholes and inclines on and performs without disappointment.

For everyone’s safety, Kia designed the body is such a way that it has a structural frame to protect you and your passengers when a collision occurs. Though the frame is strong steel, it is still light enough to enable comfortable driving and fuel efficiency! For added safety is central locking and an immobiliser.

Kia offers a 5-year/unlimited km warranty plan and a 4-year/60 000km service plan for the Rio 1.4 Sedan. Head to Kia Northcliff and grab your Kia Rio Sedan today! Speak to Dealer Principal Colin Thorpe, Sales Manager Portia Sangweni or Sales Executive Sibusiso Nkosi for more information.
