Kia Motors has maintained a lean SUV portfolio, with the range comprising of only two offerings of this genre, but that’s all about to change because they’re in the process of expansion and have a new SUV on the way. The upcoming vehicle has set many tails wagging and we have everything you need to know about it.

The latest reveal from the brand is called the Sonet, and although we’re yet to witness actual stills of the upcoming model, rendered images have been made public by the Korean manufacturer and we like what we’ve seen so far. It boasts a bold and futuristic design. “We are extremely excited to introduce the new KIA Sonet to the world, a compact SUV with a strong and muscular character found only in much larger vehicles. With this in mind, we have designed this SUV with a uniquely sporty attitude, a confident stance and a dynamic silhouette,” said Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of KIA Global Design at KIA Motors Corporation. Chances are that the Sonet will slot in somewhere around the already existing Seltos.

Manufactured in India, the Sonet will feature a large 10.25-inch touch screen with their UVO Connected technologies. The smart technology will give users remote access to certain vehicle features and settings, which will include the ability to start and stop the engine, run the AC as well as locking and unlocking of the Kia. These are just some of the 50 smart features which will be accessible through a mobile device or smartwatch.

With regards to the upcoming Kia’s core audience, Habib had this to say; “we believe the KIA Sonet’s compelling character will hold major appeal for young, aspirational and always-connected customers in India and beyond.”

The Sonet will make its world premiere in a week, on the 7th of August.
