We might not get the Opel Insignia in this market. But if you want a sedan from the automaker, you’re in luck. The booted Astra will be coming to South Africa.
It promises the same level of quality as the standard hatchback – so this won’t be a scaled-down, cheaper version pandering to fleet owners. We’ve seen how sedan iterations can be nastier than their hatchback siblings in the past. Think Fiat Linea.
According to brand manager at General Motors South Africa, Christoher Cradock, the Astra sedan will curry favour with our market where buyers tend to like sedans.
Pricing will be announced at launch. There will be four models in the range, including the 1.4 and 1.6 Turbo versions as well as an automatic derivative.
