This is the Subaru VIZIV 2 Concept. And there’s a simple explanation behind the name: it’s inspired by the phrase “Vision for Innovation”. This is the second chapter of the story, the first VIZIV debuted at last year’s Geneva Motor Show. It’s a glimpse of what we can expect from the brand in the future. And it seems there’ll be plenty of focus directed towards the burgeoning crossover segment of the market.
Power comes from a 1.6-litre turbocharged Boxer engine, supplemented by three electric motors. And it’s all shifted via Subaru’s Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmssion (CVT), which we have high praise for here at Surf4cars. Naturally, a four-wheel drive system has been employed. But in this case, the electric motors are tasked with making the rear wheels turn.
The aggressive and chunky looks are appealing indeed. But if something like this ever sees production, Subaru is almost certain to tone things down dramatically. As they always seem to do with their concepts-turned-production models. Maybe this could be a more affordable alternative to the Range Rover Evoque?
