The Volkswagen Passat is a large family sedan that was in production from 1973 until 2022. The first-gen Passat was launched as a two- or four-door sedan as well as three- and five-door versions - hatchback and station wagon (estate). Mechanically, the early Passats were identical to the Audi A80.
