The C-Class has been produced in a four-door sedan, five-door station wagon, two-door coupe and three-door hatchback variants over the years.

The second-generation boasted a range of inline-four and V6 petrol engines and inline-four and -five diesels, later the V6 diesel. The C320 offered the powerful 160 kW (215 hp; 218 PS) while the diesel models featured common rail direct fuel injection and variable geometry turbochargers.
