Audi S1 Cars For Sale
The Audi S1 car is the high-performance sibling of the A1, the smallest of
the S-class models, and inspired by the Volkswagen EA888 2litre turbo
four-cylinder (of Golf GTI fame) combined with Haldex Quatro all-wheel
drive. Produced from 2015 it is currently in its second generation and is
generally viewed as the S1 flagship. The first generation is only available
second hand in South Africa. Known as the A1 Sportback 35 TSFI S Line S
Tronic, the naming convention is a mouth full when you look at the size of
The latest generation brings a little more attitude with a lower, wider,
and longer body, slightly less rounded and definitely a more muscular look
with a rally-style appearance. The front grille is slightly more aggressive
with a lower placement and side air inlets and the flat slits below the
edge of the bonnet is a blatant reference to the rally car of the eighties.
The eye-catching trend-setter is a city slicker's dream. Even the color
range available is off the wall and makes a statement.
The Interior is what should be expected from Audi, spacious, and luxurious.
Even with the sloping roofline, four adults can sit comfortably with more
than enough head- and legroom. The second-generation S1 has slightly
increased cargo capacity with 6335litres. The back seats fold down easily
which increases the loading area to 1090 litres.
Smooth surfaces, soft0touch plastics, and matt black plastic enhance the
feeling of luxury and sophistication. Compact instrument design and
touch-screens all add to driving pleasure and the feeling of a rally car
ability. The digital instrumentation is standard but upper trim levels
include Audi's smart interface with a virtual cockpit, smartphone interface
with handy screen mirroring function, and 11 speaker Bang & Olufson
sound system. All functions can be navigated from the steering wheel
controls, no need to take your eyes off the road.
Although the premium small hatch was designed with city driving in mind, it
performs adequately on the long road, although the turbocharger causes a
slight delay in acceleration in general driving mode. Switch it to a sport
setting and you have a nippy and capable all-wheel dynamo at your disposal.
Driving pleasure, ease in parking, and traffic navigation with excellent
visibility, enhanced by a rear-view camera, the second hand Audi S1 is a
super contender in its class.
Top speed is 220km per hour with a 110kilowatt powertrain producing 250Nm
Torque. Combined fuel consumption is recorded at around 5,1litres per
100km. The Audi S1 price tag is clearly in the luxury category, but you get
what you pay for.
