Audi TT Cars For Sale

The Audi TT car (read tiger in the tank) is Audi’s famed two-door sports car, first introduced in 1998. It is currently in its third generation. All generations are available as a 2+2 coupé or two-seater roadster configuration.

The TT has certainly earned its place in the hall of fame. Attributing ‘technology and tradition’ to be the meaning behind the naming convention is much more steeped in history. The name pays homage to the roots of Audi. The famed Tourist Trophy motor racing award proved German manufacturer NSU's vehicles to be strong contenders. NSU and DKW later merged to form Audi. It ends the history lesson.

The external design is also a reference to bygone class and style. The round silhouetted, short form that immediately caught the imaginations of fans and critics alike. Through the generations it has stayed true to both its heritage and fashion trends, to stay relevant and oh-so-elegant. The 1990's roadster produced a face-lift in the 2000s and one cannot help but think Porches when looking at the silhouette. Incidentally the pre owned Audi TT was nominated for the North American Car of the Year Award in 2000 and listed in Car and Driver Magazine’s top ten vehicles of that year.

While the external design is all aerodynamics and sleek elegance, the interior is sporty and compact. It is the perfect solution to a sportscar mentality but packaged in elegance and style; leather finish, sportscar seats, tight fascia design, and cocoon-like interior. Space is sufficient for two adults, but this is not a long-drive passenger vehicle. Cargo space is also limited; you could fit an overnight suitcase and a golf bag, but not much more. Anyone interested in buying a used Audi TT is not interested in cargo space, but performance.

With quite a lot of variations available in the second-hand market, the best benchmark model is the 2008-second generation. Released after a recall caused by many high-speed crashes, the manufacturer added a tail spoiler to improve weight location over the body of the vehicle. Two engine configurations are available in this generation; the 2liter direct injection turbocharged engine putting out 200 horsepower or the 3.2.litre V6 producing 250 horsepower. Both available in six-speed manual or dual-clutch S Tronic. Later models are available in Quattro, increasing handling. The V6 accelerates at 5.6 seconds from 0 – 100kilmotres per hour with an electronically managed top speed of 250km per hour. It is fast, furious, and smooth to drive, but comfortable. Fuel consumption (depending on engine capacity and speed) is recorded at an average of 6km per 100kilomtres.
