Used Ford Kuga For Sale
Ford Kuga Cars For Sale
The Ford Kuga car is the manufacturer’s answer to the compact SUV class and
has been on the market since 2008. Available in front-wheel and all-wheel
drive, the five-door hatchback is a compact family vehicle. There are 4
generations of Kuga’s on the road, available in petrol and diesel.
The exterior design of the Ford Kuga car for sale was originally done in Europe and subsequent
generations have not veered far from the original. Smooth lines, hatchback
profile, contoured panels, and updated grille are all part of the design.
The interior is spacious in the front, but a bit cramped at the back due to
the hatchback design. The facia, depending on the year model is
conservative but dotted with dials. Depending on the year model and trim
level, you can find both fabric and leather upholstery with a myriad of
technology available. Again depending on the trim level and model, 8-inch
displays, Apple Car, and Android Auto is available in the SYNC 3
infotainment system. A standard 4-speaker sound system can be upgraded.
On the latest model on offer, there is more competitive technology
available.
The relatively new 1,5 EcoBoost Trend four-wheel-drive performs acceptably
with an average consumption of 11,59 L/100 km. The manufacturer has claimed
6.9liters per 100km but has yet to prove that to consumers who have been
publicly contested the claims.
The Kuga for sale has a big challenge though – it is the car that caught fire. Since
the first incident was reported in 2015 specifically related to the
1,6litre EcoBoost variant there have been more than 80 incidents and models
have been recalled in a wake of court cases and bad publicity. The
manufacturer cited the problem to be overheating due to a lack of
circulation of the coolant. This could lead to the cylinder head cracking,
leaking oil and causing a fire in the engine compartment. The solution was
to improve cooling and warning systems.
The used Kuga car for sale is still earning trust and market share in South Africa after
this episode, the Ford brand was damaged and with good reason.
Apart from the 1.6litre Eco Boost variant that caused the problems, the
second hand Kuga is still a dependable ride, sporty and easy to handle. The
four-wheel driveability is acceptable but not appropriate to take on the
hard off-roaders. The fuel consumption is a bit of question and the judges
are still out on the big question if Kuga will be able to make a successful
comeback in the South African market. If you are interested in a pre owned
Ford Kuga, make sure of the model and variant, and check with an objective
specialist for your peace of mind.
