Mercedes Benz SLK For Sale

The Mercedes Benz SLK class for sale is a compact luxury roadster that has been in production since 1996. It is a two-door hatch that has been a sure head-turner since its first model was launched and is currently in its third generation.

The first generation or R170 SLK (1996 – 2004) was the first compact roadster manufactured by Mercedes Benz and the moniker is easily explained: S (Sport), L (‘Leicht’/ light) and K (‘Kurz’ or short). The SLK made a name for itself and competed with the BMW roadster.

The second generation, R171 was produced from 2004 – 2010 and improved high-strength steel, strength, and aerodynamic efficiency where results of the upgraded model. A better roof mechanism that opens and closes the roof slightly faster than the first generation was also installed and the boot space was increased by 63litres, quite a lot of extra space for a roadster. The exterior design changed to a pointy nose, inspired by Formula One cars and prominent badge with elongated front lights.

The third generation Mercedes Benz SLK for sale that has been manufactured since 2011 is a design mix between its predecessor and the latest Mercedes Benz design language, bold grille, prominent logo, and sleek, smooth lines. The upgraded SLK 250 was released in 2016 as a 1,8litre four-cylinder turbo with more than enough power and roar. Two variants have also been released, the 1.8litre V6 or the twin-turbo V8 in the SLK 55 AMG all paired with a 7G-Tronic gearbox. The second hand Mercedes Benz SLK250 for sale accelerates from 0 – 100km in 6,6 seconds and produces 130kW and 310Nm torque.

Interior is all you would expect from a luxury vehicle. Leather upholstery with metal elements, a wind deflector that reduces buffeting in the vehicle, sporty bucket seats, and all the tech that is in step with the year model's release. The sportier steering wheel is not only aesthetically pleasing but a great plus for driving pleasure. The boot space is acceptable with the roof closed, when it's down you'll probably get a golf bag or overnight suitcase in. But that is not why anybody would be interested in the second hand Mercedes Benz SLK for sale; it is the image and the experience. Closest rivals in this class are the Audi TT and the BMW Z4. Combined fuel consumption for the SLK250 is 6.6litres per 100km.
