Mercedes Benz Sprinter Cars For Sale
The Mercedes Benz Sprinter car is a well-known and much-trusted delivery
and people mover in South Africa. Classified as a light commercial vehicle,
it has been in production since 1995 and currently in its third generation.
In South Africa the two-door “panel van” and four-door minibus (Tourer),
the two-door "bakkie" or freight carrier, and the Inkanyezi large taxi are
available.
Much of the outside design has remained the same; boxy shape with the
sharp, short nose but the brand and technical upgrades have evolved to be
in line with the Mercedes Benz design language and technical competencies.
Complete with a bulkier and more aggressive grille and bigger logo display,
the used Sprinter's look is in line with the new Mercedes Benz design
upgrades on all lines. Just think of the X Class, for example. From the
doors, bumpers, moving panels to the interior's seats, facia and fittings
it is not only durable but high quality and in its class.
The panel van is available in three lengths with a standard roof or high
roof and the freight carrier in standard or long. Both of these have a load
capacity of 2,5 tons. The Inkanyezi and Tourer are custom-built, in three
different lengths with a maximum of 22 seats. Body size and load capacity
in the older models are more or less the same and with Mercedes Benz the
second or third-hand value for money is excellent – depending on how well
it was looked after.
The younger models are standard fitted with a digital networking ability,
all with supply chain efficiency in mind. The cabin, passengers’ seats, and
cockpit are a combination of efficiency, durability, and understated class.
Designed to work hard, it doesn't have a utilitarian feel but one of solid
quality.
Safety features abound and are standard. With the youngest models, the
following list of features is available: Cross-wind assistance, electronic
stability control, driver airbag, and hill-start assistance, heated
exterior mirror, and third brake light. Optional extra's on the 2019 models
include active brake assist, camera assist systems, active lane assistance,
and the DISTRONIC distance assist which automatically calculates the
distance to the vehicle in front, ensuring safe following distance and
immediate slow-down if necessary.
The average fuel consumption across models and years are around 6,16
kilomtres per litre, depending on payload. Slightly more affordable than
the Vito and V-Class, the pre owned Sprinter is the workhorse in the
Mercedes Benz Stable, that being said, a well-groomed one.
