Audi Q3 for Sale

The Audi Q3 is known as subcompact luxury crossover SUV and one of the smaller Q's in the series. It was first launched in 2011 and is currently in its second generation with several updates on the previous generation.

The Q3 has been designed with the weekend recreational consumer in mind, not quite big enough as a family SUV but perfect as a lifestyle statement with high performance and design.

The exterior is in line with the Q-line, smooth hatchback silhouette, slightly higher ground clearance, prominent grille, and sleek front and backlights. With the upgrades of the first generation (2011 – 2016), the overall look and feel are on par with other Audi models, including technology upgrades and technical improvements. The Q3 is available in Sport, S-line Edition and Black Edition with enough tech and optional extra's such a Bose sound system and sport suspension. Standard bells and whistles include 17-inch alloy rims, parking sensors in the rear, xenon headlights, aluminum roof rails, speed control, automatic light, and windshield wiper settings. Infotainment and cabin comforts include dual-zone climate control, Audi's MMI infotainment system, 6,5inchs screen, satellite navigation, DAB radio, Bluetooth and USB connectivity as well as voice recognition.

The interior is adequate, even for a compact hatchback SUV. The back seat can seat two adults but might be a little cramped for the taller passenger due to the sloping roofline. All seats are adjustable for more legroom in front. The boot is on the smaller side but easy to access through a wide tailgate and small load lip area, making it easier to load items. The driving position is excellent and visibility right, although the pedals in manual models might make a long drive slightly uncomfortable for some drivers. Fabric and interior finishes are all superior Audi quality.

Handling is adequate and more like a hatchback than an SUV, finding itself somewhat lagging in comparison with close competitors. Road grip makes up for performance; the Q3 is sure-footed with a steady stance both in front and four-wheel drive options. It provides a comfortable ride except in the S Line version that has firm suspension to give a more sporty performance and feel.

There are several engines on range from 1.4litre turbo petrol to the 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo in the RS Q3, the high-performance version of the Q3. The 2.0 TDI (diesel) manual seems to be the most popular and best fuel consumption of the range, with around 23km per litre. The petrol option that appears to have clocked the best fuel consumption is the 1.4litre TFSI (2014 models) with front-wheel drive at 20km per litre. If you are interested in the high-performing RS Q3, prepare yourself for 14km per litre.

The Q3 is a neat and presentable luxury compact SUV, perfect for the discerned driver that doesn’t necessarily have the budget or need for a bulkier vehicle.
