Used Volkswagen Caddy For Sale
Produced since 1980, the Volkswagen Caddy For Sale is a South African favourite. Available in four different body styles, you can either choose a panel van, MPF or utility coupe. Currently, in its fourth generation, the second hand Volkswagen Caddy for sale is still a firm favourite on our roads. Hailing from humble beginnings as the ‘Golf Bakkie’ and locally produced in Uitenhage, there are still a lot of first-generation Caddies on our roads. In South Africa the second and third generation was never offered, thus enter the latest offering, more known for the panel can or minibus style than the light bakkie of its origins.
The pre-owned Volkswagen Caddy Kombi seats up to five in a two-row configuration and seven in a three-row configuration. Available as passenger mover with more luxurious trimmings or utilitarian panel van. The Alltrack Caddy facelift released in 2017 proved to be another favourite with fleets and logistics companies.
The external design is a short body ( for the short wheel-base), sharp nose and, upright shape with huge windows in the MPV body style, slick and elegant without professing to be anything it is not. The long wheel-base can accommodate 3 rows of seats but at the cost of loading space. Interior is user friendly and unpretentious. The second-hand Caddy for sale comes standard with many features including height-adjustable front seats, climate control, seat warmers, speed control and, multi-functional display screen. There are several storage options in the MPF style including a large shelf above the second row of seats and handy drawers under the front seats. There are even down foldable tables fitted to the back of the front seats.
As a panel van, the space is impressive and with its upright body shape, can accommodate bulky loads. If you are in two minds about loading space vs. passenger accommodation, not to worry, the three-seater bench (second row or third row depending on body style) can fold flat or even removed and add to the loading capacity you need.
The driving experience is fair, with excellent visibility in the Kombi style. Steering is responsive enough although cabin noise in the panel van is significantly more than in the Kombi.
If you are in the market for a small, light bakkie and don’t want to spend too much, the pre-owned Caddy for sale is the one for you, but with strong competition from the 1400 Champ. If you are in the market for a handsome panel van to up your brand or a convenient MPV the newer Caddy should be on your radar. The avarage fuel consumption for combined use is about 6litres per 100km.
