More About The Nissan NP200 Bakkie

Nissan's nippy NP200 bakkie was launched in SA in 2008, but its history goes way back to its predecessor the Nissan 1400 (previously the Datsun 1400). These classics were designed and built right here in Pretoria. This strong little bakkie became known as the "Champion of Africa" and you couldn't drive down a street of any city or dorpie in the country without seeing a few of them.

Their ubiquity was for good reason too. The small chassis and economical engine made these bakkies ideal for small businesses and loads. The Nissan NP200 for sale is not only practical but also good-looking making it an ideal business run-around or work pony.

These single cab two-seaters have a sizable loading bay, even though the Nissan NP200 is smaller than standard single cab bakkies. In fact, the NP200 is closer to a hatchback's size and is now dominating the compact bakkie market in South Africa since the Ford Bantam range ended.

The NP200 is now produced through the Nissan-Renault alliance, giving it the best of both marques. Its 800kg payload and 1.26 cubic metre load box volume make the bakkie very competitive - also in terms of overall running and repair costs. It is available in powerful and fuel-efficient 1.6l petrol and 1.5l dCi engines.
