The Volkswagen Jetta V was manufactured from 2005 – 2011 and was the predecessor of the Volkswagen Bora. Announcing a brand new look and styling, the Jetta V mimicked much of the design look and feel of the Golf Mk5. Combining elegant minimalism with capacious interior dimensions.

Smoother curves, chrome details several body colour options including a line of metallic options added to the updated Jetta. The handsome exterior translates well in the overall design language of Volkswagen and offers a classy but not-too-obvious option for the more conservative consumers. The bold chrome grille and prominent VW badge are perhaps the most daring of the overall look.

Although classified as a compact sedan, it can easily seat 5 adults in its roomy front and back seat. The boot space is more than adequate. Quality finishes have been used in the interior, with hints of Audi and the new Passat contributing to an up-market feeling. Ergonomic design, instinctively positioned with subtle backlighting on the instrument panel all adds up to a feeling of understated elegance and quality. The cabin is quiet and the driving experience is smooth and excellent handling and cornering, despite the size of the vehicle. Due to better suspension design and seating adjustments, passenger experience is also a smooth ride.

Volkswagen Jetta V spec levels compare well with competitors. Six airbags, ABS breaks, LED tail-lights, multi-function on-board computer, remote central lock, adjustable steering column, air conditioning, electric windows, and power-adjustable mirrors are standard on the base trim level. Additional extra’s on upper trim levels include cruise control, climate sensors, dual climate zone control, leather seats, sunroof and satellite navigation.

Jetta has evolved quite far with the launch of Jetta V. No longer a dependable but pedestrian compact sedan, it offers various engine configurations with adequate power output and varied specs. One of the most significant mechanical upgrades was a turbocharged engine with a six-speed transmission. The best fuel economy is claimed to be the 2.0litre with combined use consumption of 5,5litre per 100km.
