More About The Mini Countryman

Launched in 2010 to contend in the subcompact luxury crossover SUV category, this Mini makes perfect sense on so many levels. The MINI Countryman bridges the gap between the classic concept of the MINI and a modern Sports Activity Vehicle - making it the ideal car for Mini lovers who need more space and functionality.

This was the first model in the MINI range featuring four doors and a wide-opening rear lid; it thereby provides greater freedom of space for versatile use, a more elevated seating position, and improved comfort.

Models available are: Cooper S, Cooper S ALL4, Cooper, One, Cooper D, Cooper D ALL4, and One D Cooper SD, Cooper SD ALL4, Cooper D Automatic, Cooper D ALL4 Automatic.

The brilliant ALL4 all-wheel-drive powertrain includes electro-hydraulic diff which is positioned directly on the transmission's final drive, varying the power distribution from front to rear. This intelligent modification means that under normal driving conditions, up to 50% of the engine's power goes to the rear wheels. When driving under "extreme" conditions up to 100% of the power is directed to the rear wheels.

Critics have questioned the logic of making a vehicle that is longer, wider and taller, essentially forsaking the inner logic of the brand (excellent handling in a tiny package). However, consumers spoke and the Countryman became Mini's second most popular model.

It received a facelift in 2014: a new hexagonal grill structure, underride guard elements for the Cooper S Countryman ALL4 and new colour options, with 6-speed manual transmission or optional 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 20cm longer and wider Countryman second generation was launched in 2017, powered by a turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, with the Cooper S boasting a new 2.0-litre turbo I4.

The MINI Countryman offers that unique driving pleasure and modern luxury typical of MINI and its parent BMW coupled with extra space and flexibility for a new target market, namely: families.
