More about Honda
Honda History
Honda is the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles, since 1959, and is currently the biggest producer of internal combustion engines - with an average production of fourteen million engines per year. The Honda Motor Company was established in 1948 by Soichiro Honda - who is one of the greatest industrialists and automotive inventors of the Twentieth Century. Fifteen years later, in August 1963, Honda launched their first automobile, the T360 mini-truck, followed by their first production car, the S500 sports car in October. Renowned among Honda enthusiasts is the Honda NSX, a mid-engine supercar designed to compete with the Ferrari but more affordable and reliable. The NSX is one of the greatest iconic sports cars in automotive history.
How much is a Honda in South Africa?
Honda cars are available for sale in South Africa in a number of trim levels starting from around R35,000 for an older model with prices dependent on the year of manufacture, mileage, service history and vehicle specification. With excellent resell-value and class-leading quality - there are used Honda's for sale that retail for over R600 000.
Is a Honda a reliable car?
Honda fabricates more power trains than any other vehicle manufacturer in the world - of which their manufacturing standards epitomise reliability. Honda engine parts are made from forged steel - which is much stronger and robust at high temperatures. Whereas many other vehicle manufacturers rely on cast-steel engine parts and more vulnerable to mechanical breakdown. Their i-VTEC engines are an engineering marvel and have the lowest warranty claims: which is why the VTEC engine is highly preferred among car tuners.
What makes Honda worth the money?
Having already mentioned Honda's virtually impervious engineering - their cars are stylish, technologically advanced, light on fuel and yet fun to drive. Honda has an impeccable safety record, while some auto-makers focus on driver safety aids, to score high in the Euro and Global NCAP safety tests - Honda's primary focus is on their vehicles structural strength. Speak to any Honda owner, and they will tell you a Honda is worth the money - even a second-hand Honda that is in mint condition can offer years of dependability.
Is a Honda expensive to service and maintain?
There is a difference between running costs and repairs to a vehicle. Interestingly, the same thing that makes a Honda affordable to maintain also makes them expensive to repair in the event of a major mechanical breakdown. Honda builds their vehicles to the utmost quality standards, they do not use cast-steel components to reduce production costs but forged-steel instead - and therefore some parts are more expensive than average.
